Follett Announces 2017 Follett Values in Action President’s Award Winners

WESTCHESTER, IL, Jul 3, 2017

Follett is proud to announce the winners of its 2017 Follett Values in Action President’s Awards. Seventy-six quarter finalists were recognized throughout the past year for exemplifying and living the Follett Values in their work with team-mates, customers and partners. The six President’s Award winners were selected from this elite group of quarter finalists.

Below is a list of Follett’s six core Values and the Follett Values in Action President’s Award winners with a brief look at their achievements.

Integrity: Always do the right thing
Chris Stevenson (Asst. Store Manager at Western Michigan University Bookstore) played an integral role in uncovering and stopping a textbook theft ring that had been targeting Follett and several local bookstores.

Accountability: Own the outcome
Tina Clausen (Asst. Store Manager at National University Direct Text in Arizona) led her team in a massive warehouse re-design, which involved demolition and reconstruction; a new configuration for textbooks; and moving 5,500 titles multiple times to accommodate construction.

Customers: Put customers at the center of all that you do
Teresa King (Store Manager at Ramapo College Campus Store in New Jersey) is an extraordinary manager, known for taking great care of customers and partners.  She has built deep campus relationships and maintains a strong partnership with our campus contacts at Ramapo College.

Each & Every Team Member: Be open, honest and transparent
Jennifer Coates (Training Services Analyst in McHenry, Illinois) helped make Follett a great place to work by introducing and spearheading Ideas Week, a weeklong employee event with workshops and seminars on a variety of topics.

Innovation: Challenge yourself to find a better way
Kristi Lawson (Store Manager at Northeast State Bookstore in Tennessee) jumped at the opportunity to drive her school’s mission to become 100% digital. She successfully partnered with the school to launch a pilot program in summer 2016.

Teamwork: Go farther together
John Williams (Director of Market Development in McHenry, Illinois) stepped beyond his role to become the lead on the Salesforce® implementation, which will help Follett manage and deepen our customer relationships. Thanks to his passion and expertise, it was launched on time and was well received.

“Our six Follett Values have served as the foundation of our company for decades and have defined our culture. I’m proud to recognize these six President’s Award winners who truly went above and beyond and serve as role models, “ said Todd Litzsinger, Follett’s Chairman. “Thank you to each of the winners for living the Follett values and your support of our business, our team members and our customers.”
