Follett Expands Partnership, Driving Alta Gracia Awareness and Operation Sustainability


WESTCHESTER, IL, Dec 18, 2014Follett has closely partnered with socially conscious apparel manufacturer Alta Gracia since the brand's inception to maximize orders and presence in Follett campus stores nationwide. Just in time for the holiday season, Follett is significantly extending this partnership to deliver a deeper assortment of fair trade apparel as well as drive forward Alta Gracia's mission.

Based in the Dominican Republic, the Alta Gracia brand is known for its fair labor practices, safe working conditions and specifically the implementation of living wage. This guarantees the consumer that proceeds from their purchase go directly to the people making the clothing – providing hope and a pathway out of poverty. Despite growing popularity amongst students, Alta Gracia has struggled with acquiring the order volume required to maintain a sustainable operation during the winter months. This is now changing as a result of a new multi-million dollar deal with Follett. Follett put in an 800+ store order for merchandise that is currently arriving on campuses across the country. With this deal, the Alta Garcia factory is running during the notoriously slow time of year, resulting in a first ever break-even year which further proves the viability of the Alta Gracia business model.
