Follett Doubles Scholarship Award to the 2015 All-USA Community College Academic Team

CHICAGO, Apr 28, 2015Follett Higher Education Group, in partnership with Phi Theta Kappa, is proud to announce that Follett is doubling its sponsorship of the 2015 All-USA Community College Academic Team to $100,000 in scholarships. Follett’s growing sponsorship reflects its shared commitment to Phi Theta Kappa’s mission to encourage student achievement, support individual development, and most importantly, make a difference in the lives of very worthy students.

“For the past five years, we have been moved and humbled by the extraordinary accomplishments of the All-USA scholarship recipients,” said Don Germano, President of Follett Higher Education Group. “This year, we’re excited to extend our All-USA Academic Team support to provide these remarkable students with the resources needed to pursue their dreams and accomplish what may have seemed out of reach.”

Each of the 20 students on the All-USA Community College Academic Team received a $5,000 scholarship to advance their educational pursuits.

“The impact this will have on my academic journey will be huge. I will not have the stress of student loans piling up as I finish out my degree,” said Macie Gillock, Phi Theta Kappa and All-USA Academic Team member from Redlands Community College. “This scholarship has also encouraged me to work that much harder toward my goals... it has made me believe not only that I can reach my goals, but that others are invested in them too.”

“This scholarship represents a large stepping stone in my climb toward academic achievement,”  said Karen Meacham, Phi Theta Kappa and All-USA Academic Team member from Tarrant County College. “Without scholarships, I would be unable to afford the next step at a four-year institution.”

Follett currently manages 950 campus stores across the U.S. and Canada, including 400 community college store locations - more than any other bookstore operator in the country.
